My project is not coming along as fast as i thought it would. I am having trouble thinking of how to start the project. I am aiming mine more towards the counter culture of today. Basically the rebels of society but mostly directed toward "hippie" type people. If you read this and you think of any advice or topics to cover, feel free to give me some advice and input on a good starting point. Thank you!

"A Place to Hang Your Hat"
This essay hit me kind of hard because I have a soft side for the less priveliged people. There are some people who use those shelters because they are too lazy to live life and work, but then you got some people that are really in need of help and support and i feel that the author of this essay really hit that point to the max. This shelter which was called the " Ramsey House," was a subculture, it was like a little village of exact times that you had to be there for meals. It was almost like a job with deadlines if you think about it. The character that really brought my attention to the essay was "Hope." She had a rough life growing up because when she was in school as a child she was not allowed to have black friends and she showed her mother that she was not going to listen. The poor girl's mom got a restraining order against her because she could not get over her predjudiced outrages. The essay read that she still respected her mother and they still talked but the restraining order had to be in effect for 3 years before she could see her ever again. In all, this essay showed us that there are people out there that really need help, and some people just don't want to live life by the rules. This essay kind of goes with what we have to do with our project as a whole because it contains the description of the subculture and it contains interviews and different encounters with people in the subculture. I think we can really use this as a guideline on how to do a descriptive essay on our project.

Modern Day "Hippies" ( My project title)
Classic rock has always been a huge part of my life. It puts me in some sort of a trance that I do not come out of for a long while, well as long as the music is going that is. I love everything about it, mostly the root meaning of some of the songs or the people it attracted and the time frame from which it came. In the late 60's there was a huge festival of a bunch of peaceful Americans. It is the most remembered concert/festival of past American music. That festival was called "Woodstock," and it attracted thousands of people from all over the U.S. The most popular and well known group that it attracted was the "Hippies." They were basically a subculture of rebels, and they were very strong willed about what they believed was right. The "Vietnam" war was one of the most violent battles that America has ever fought and it turned the U.S inside out. People were outraged and full of violence. These rebels were against the war though, and they believed that everyone should come together and live as one in the world that we all have to survive in and help each other. The "Hippies" really kept strong to their protest against violence. They stood together against authority, and never backed down. These individuals were people that the older generations despised at that time. In my project I will explain all the events of the past with the "Hippies," and compare them to modern day people similar to them. I will be doing live interviews on some people that are actually "hippies." One of them being my friend David Desroche. The interviews will be full of opinions and what they think about life in their terms. I will also be recording live footage of different parties that they are at and at festivals such as "Schwagstock." The footage may be offending at some points of the project because things can happen and people can say stuff that others strongly disagree about. My project will also show what they do on their spare time when they are sitting around and their favorite foods or activities to do. There will be photos of the people I am interviewing and having in my videos. One of my friends will be showing us how to do cool designs on ty-dye shirts and just some of the things that they make. I will be going into the essay explaining the past and working my way up through the events of the past and eventually getting to the present, which will contain the interviews and photo and video footage.
